Circa 1839. Title page and 29 printed pages. "I.L.Linney bookseller of Low Ousegate, York"- booksellers label on front pastedown endpaper. Pale yellow endpapers. 25 x 32mm. Original blue-grey embossed card (very slight rubbing to hinges and corners). The prayer Solomon offered to dedicate the temple is found in 1 Kings 8:22 54. Solomon prayed that the temple would be a blessing to the people in uniting them in joining with God and sharing in the goals of the Chrisitan faith, many of which aspirations still apply today. John Lewis Linney was a Quaker printer/bookseller from Ripon, the first of a succession of Quaker owners of what would eventually become Sessions of York. In 1839 Linney moved the printing business to 15 Low Ousegate, York, and continued to print there until 1851. Not in Bondy, nor Spielmann nor Welsh. WorldCat finds 10 other titles published by Wright & Albright, all juvenile chapbooks between 10-12cm. & in all but one case only surviving in one or two copies at Florida and sometimes Indiana universitiy libraries (the exception being a solitary survivor of one title at Oxford University). No other books found published by Wright and Albright in this much smaller size (a third the size of the next smallest titles). No copies of this Solomon's Prayer found anywhere. A scarce, nearly 200 year-old miniature book, by a small Bristol printer and with a provincial printer/bookseller's original label, in remarkably good condition. Seller Inventory # 5319
