Originally, in 1979, Francis Edwards Ltd. employed me as a trainee bookdealer in my first bookselling role. I have continuously owned my own independent bookshops in inner London since 1984.

The Provincial Bookseller's Fairs Association elected me as chairman of the London region for five consecutive years.

As co-owner of Burley Fisher Books since 2016, I am currently involved in our Haggerston bookshop, and our second bookshop at Ibraaz near Oxford Circus in Central London.

I specialise - online and by appointment - in miniature books that are uncommon, in demand, and may be hard to find anywhere else.

At Firsts London 2024, the UK's premier rare book fair, I was awarded 'Best Display' from the ABA Fair Organising Committee for my unique display of many hundreds of antique miniature books.

The Historic Royal Palaces, the
National Library of Scotland, Gladstone's Library, the University of British Columbia, the Special Collections Library of the University of Sydney, University of KwaZulu-Natal, and La Rochelle Library are among many institutions and libraries that have made acquisitions of important miniature books from me.

Where can I find others interested in collecting miniature books?

If you have a passion for miniature book collecting, this society and this website are perfect for you!

In the UK, miniature books measure no more than 10 centimeters high or wide. A book exceeding 10 centimeters in its longest dimension is not a miniature book but could be a near-miniature.

Only a handful of antiquarian bookdealers specialise in miniature books. But there are a large number of collectors spanning the entire world.

'Timeless Treasure' demonstrates that miniature bookcases have the "wow" factor. The short book is beautifully illustrated throughout with some sensational examples of books and their miniature bookcases. It contains plenty of historical insight and some thoughtful observations.

A 2026 article by Jason Burley has also been published in the Children's Books Historical Society about David Bryce's miniature, colour-printed My Tiny Alphabet Book in 1896. Please search on the website to purchase signed copies.
