Beautifully marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt. Some pages unopened. "Bound by Sotheran & Co." stamped on verso of all front free endpapers. Scattered foxing and some offsetting.  16 x 23 cm. Uniformly bound in near contemporary half red crushed Niger morocco by Sotherans. Spines in compartments with alternating Napoleonic military insignia, imperial eagles and imperial "N" cypher in gilt hand-tooling, within double fillet borders. Upper and lower covers with double fillets in gilt over marbled paper covered boards. Some very slight rubbing- OVERALL IN FINE CONDITION. Marie Joseph Louis Adolphe Thiers (1797-1877) was a French statesman and historian. He was the second elected President of France, and the first President of the French Third Republic.
