4 unnumbered pages : colour illustrations. The 12 slots are created from two sheets of paper stitched together, featuring pockets labeled for different stamp values. 72 x 96 mm. In original colour illustrated and printed card slipcase. Bottom corner of the slipcase is loose. 80 x 102 mm. The wallet features a "sliding" mechanism; on the outer case, Alice holds the Duchess's baby, but when the inner wallet slides out, she is shown holding a pig. The back of the case features a fading Cheshire Cat, which Carroll jokingly called his "Pictorial Surprises". OCLC, 913263736. WorldCat records two copies (Victoria and Albert Museum, Rosenbach Museum). Lacking the pale pink envelope and small pamphlet written by Carroll called Eight or Nine Wise Words about Letter Writing, which provided humorous advice on correspondence. Driven by the frustration of not having the correct stamp values on hand, the 12 pockets were designed to hold stamps from 1/2d to 1s; the stamp case was a clever, branded, and useful item that combined Carroll's love for logic and his fondness for writing letters.
