War-time changes meant the introduction of censorship and significant powers devolving to the Minister of Information. By contrast, for the first time, the BBC permitted the reproduction of the television broadcast in places of public entertainment, for example the Boon-Danahar boxing match at Haringay Arena, was seen in several West End cinemas.
