Text is black letter and is framed within ornamental borders of red, blue and gold. All edges gilt. Inner gilt dentelles. Some pages with very slight marginal foxing; first blank preliminary pages a little more foxed. 18 x 26 cm. Original Remnant & Edwards "relievo" binding of full relief compressed leather. Spine in scrolling foliate design with no lettering. Boards with central lettered panel, within wide holly design with berries, and geometric outer border. Binding's outer edges gilt hand-tooled. Corners slightly rubbed. There is some very mild rubbing but the binding remains unrepaired and complete in remarkably very good to near fine condition. A wonderful combination of eccentric High-Victorian binding together with lavish ornamental chromolithography. WorldCat notes 15 copies in UK libraries. Bookseller Inventory # 4997
