c. 1870. Small 4to. pp. 12 mounted, albumen photographs, titled and numbered in the print, with single black ruled line borders. Image size 100 x 150 mm, bound in publisher's embossed green cloth, gilt, front inner joint split, two tiny abrasions on back cover and corners very slightly worn, otherwise in very good condition. In 1854, at 313 Oxford Street, the London Stereoscope Company was born, and under the leadership of Managing Partner George Swan Nottage, by 1856 the company had changed its name, to The London Stereoscopic Company , and finally in May 1859 assumed the name it was to retain for years to come: the London Stereoscopic and Photographic Company -finally dissolved in 1922. British photographic literature published 1839-75 and British books illustrated with original photographs are collectively known as Incunabula of British Photographic Literature. Uncommon.
