Published under the auspices of Hadrat Mirza Bashir-ud-din Mahmud Ahmad, the Second Successor of the Promised Messiah, by Anjuman-i-Taraqqi-i-Islam, Qadian, Punjab, India. 8, 116, viii printed pages in Arabic letters and in transliteration.

First, a Qur’anic verse is provided at the top in its original Arabic wording. This is followed by a transcript of the Arabic wording in transliterated form using Latin letters. In the final sections, there follows an interpretation of the verse, a running note on the arrangements of the Qur’anic verses and cross references.

First Edition. Printed at the Addison Press, Madras. Superior paper, de-luxe edition. Original brown wrappers bound in printed , 'Ahmad the Messenger of the Latter Days' written by Anjuman-I-Taraqqi-Islam, Secretary of the Punjabi Ahmadiyyan Association . Original tan vertically striped decorated endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription on front free endpaper, 'Presented by the Lady Members of the Ceylon Ahmadiyyan Association', signed by C.H. Mantara, and dated 4/03/1921. Two oval ink stamps -front paste-down endpaper and first page of Foreword - for Ceylon Ahmadiyyan Association, Colombo. 29 x 21.5 cm. Original full black embossed morocco; spine and front cover with gilt titling. Edges and head/tail of spine slightly rubbed; boards just beginning to bow a little. Provenance: C.H. Mantara was the Secretary of the  Ceylon Ahmadiyyan Association and President of the 14th Ahmadiyyan Congress - a very important early leader of the Ceylon Ahmadiyyan sect who travelled abroad to promote the religion he loved but was persecuted for. The 1915 edition contained only the Fātiḥa and half of the second surah; despite the editors being certain that they would be able to publish two or three parts serially every year, no subsequent part of the translation ever appeared in print. Part One was the only volume that was ever published and it was also the first Ahmadi translation to be published in a European language.

The Ahmadiyyas are a Muslim sect who follow the teachings of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, an evangelist who began his mission in 1878 in the Punjab village of Qadian. The Ahmadiyya Movement was the first Islamic group to begin translating the Qur’an into European languages, a project they initiated with this publication. Since then, the Ahmadiyya has published more than 80 translations in different languages. As early as 1890, a year after its inception, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement, approached Muslims in India. Anjuman-i-Taraqqi Islam was a small committee established by Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad in 1914 with the purpose of designing plans for the efficient propagation of Islam.
