14 x 18cm. 210 printed papers. Line drawn illustrations throughout by George Scharf, Jun. Some browning, particularly on the preliminary and final leaves. Full signed green morocco binding; spine in five compartments with fleur de lys type gilt decorations, with gilt chain-link decorated raised bands, gilt title label; upper and lower covers with fleurs de lys tooling within four twin bordered panels; the panels and 12 floral designs within twin gilt ruled dentelle borders. All edges gilt. Inner dentelles, marbled endpapers; signed "Riviere" on verso of front free endpaper. Corners slightly bumped. Hinges and all edges very mildly worn. This example of fine binding was completed pre-1881, because in 1881, the binding business was renamed Riviere and Son to incorporate the credentials of Percy Calkin, Riviere's grandson, as partner.
