Original yellow endpapers (slight staining). 54 x 68 mm. Contemporary blind stamped and gilt titled blue cloth. Decorative brass clasp & edges (very slightly rubbed). Provenance: James Maden Holt (1829-1911), for 12 years Conservative Member of Parliament for North East Lancashire -in opposition, under Disraeli-, to Margaret Jane Peel (from the marriage of Ann Jane Steers and William Peel there were several sons and two twin daughters. The elder twin, Margaret Jane Peel, married the Rev. Weston Brocklesby Davis, Vicar of Ramsbury, Wilts, I5th April, 1857, and their daughter, Margaret, married Colonel Chaloner, sometime Member of Parliament for the Abercromby Division of Liverpool, and now Lord Gisborough of Cleveland) on July 29th 1870. This is a very simiar publication to Small Rain Upon the Tender Herb (same printers and publishers) though less coommon (fewer copies printed, almost certainly).
