Hannah More was the most influential woman living in England during her day. Counter-revolutionary bluestocking and evangelical reformer, Hannah More (1745-1833) was one of the best selling women authors in Georgian Britain.Through her writings, political actions and personal relationships, she carried out a radical program for social change in the existing British social and political order. Hannah More, like Wollstonecraft, was largely self-educated & devoted her life to reforming the culture of the English nation from within. What she desired was a revolution in manners or cultural mores, a radical change in the moral behaviour of the nation. This is a particularly handsomely bound copy from an eminent proto-feminist.
