NICOLAÏ (Christophe-Frédéric), a famous German critic, born in Berlin in 1733, died in 1811; "Historical research on the use of false hair and wigs, in ancient and modern times". This handbook of hairdressing was designed in part for the use of personal attendants of elegant French society and contains details on powdering wigs and false hair. It contains two folding engraved prints showing various hairstyles. It is bound in contemporary pale salmon paper covered boards with a gilt leather label on the spine. Slightly shelf worn, commensurate with age and careful use. Wonderful 209 year old French book on coiffure.
