Burns Poetical Works in Six Volumes c 1890
Each volume covered in green buckram with a ploughman & plough & two horses to front cover and with a geometric cartouche to the rear cover in black red edges and gilt titles to spines. 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" They are housed in a sycamore Mauchline box (fractionally wider & deeper than the previous example) with a double hinged lid which has a portrait of Burns on the upper half and a view of his cottage in Alloway, Ayrshire on the lower half, each in black. Black title on the hinged lids 'Burns Poetical Works'.
The lower lid has the side and a small part of the top
missing. Black leather base to the box. Volume VI is in turquoise rather than green, hence this is a replacement
