Complete with six full-page colour chromolithographed pop-up illustrations in fine working condition, depicting Cinerella, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Puss in Boots, There was an old woman who lived in a shoe, and Beauty and the Beast. All pop-ups function well, are bright and are in fine condition. Lacking front free endpaper. All pages evenly toned. Very occassional and extremely slight foxing. 32 x 27 cm. Dark green cloth backed cream photolithographed paper covered boards. Spine extremely lightly worn at head and foot. Lightly abraded . Corners extremely slightly worn. Crucially this is a better than usual copy. The production of this book, its expense to produce and the vulnerability of the moving parts to careles handling have made such examples increasingly scarce. This book represents one of the finest productions of Ernest Nister and of the printers in Bavaria, shortly before the First World War marked the end of any further such high quality movable books on a commercial scale.
