This copy comes from Frederck Warne's Property Room and has loosely inserted a folded, printed form with ink annotations concerning the detailed publishing history of the edition. There were 6,000 copies of the first edition and over 50,000 copies of the 1877 later edition (7 shillings and sixpence, with 575 printed pages) and subsequent issues. The original total property costs were just over £170 for the first edition and just over £258 for the second edition. The last recorded issue of the second edition was of 3,000 copies on September 27th 1895.
