128 pages. 14 plates of black and white photographs. Dustwrapper depicting a radio, a helmet and a kit bag, very slightly soiled and chipped on the spine and the top at the front. Top edges slightly dust stained. The book begins with the messages from Neville Chamberlain, the Prime Minister, and King George vi, on 3 September, 1939. War-time changes meant the introduction of censorship and significant powers devolving to the Minister of Information. By contrast, for the first time, the BBC permitted the reproduction of the television broadcast in places of public entertainment, for example the Boon-Danahar boxing match at Haringay Arena, was seen in several West End cinemas.
