201 pages. 22x14 cm. 64 Moholy images of London's street markets captured in rich gravure. Inscription of previous owner in neat hand "Hilda Shaw, 30 Lyndale Avenue NW8" on front free end paper. Some marks to the boards and a small incision to the oatmeal cloth of about 5mm. László Moholy-Nagy, 1895-1946, was a Hungarian painter and photographer as well as a professor in the Bauhaus school. He was highly influenced by constructivism and a strong advocate of the integration of technology and industry into the arts. The New York Times called him "relentlessly experimental" and he fled Nazi Germany to the UK in 1935 when he took the photos for this book. Mary Benedetta in 1941 wrote the Script for the film "19 Metre Band"; in 1942 directed the film "Blitz Wash"; in 1946 wrote the Scenario for "General Election"; and in 1949 adapted the scenario for "Bait". .
