Owner's signature "J.Hart. 52 The Causeway, March". 13 x 19 cm. Original black cloth. Spine with gilt lettering and triple rules at foot and head. Upper board with gilt lettering and triple gilt ruled borders. Complete with original dust jacket (some marginal wear with very slight loss at foot of spine, two closed short tears and some marginal wear). Loosely inserted paper cutting with black & white photograph of author Arthur Prince in officer's uniform of the Royal Navy and with naval seaman ventriloquist's dummy in their comedy act Naval Occasions . Prince is remembered for having his dummy, Sailor Jim, sing while Prince drank a glass of water or smoked a cigar. A singer off stage made this trick possible.
